Heifer Chicago was invited to make a presentation at HOBY's annual international youth leadership event, The World Leadership Congress (WLC). This is a dynamic leadership program that brings together students from the U.S. and abroad. This group of over 400 "ambassadors" comprised of U.S. high school students and international students from all four corners of the globe convene for a week-long, life-changing, educational and leadership skills building program.

The date and time for the Heifer presentation were: Thursday, July 28, noon-2:15 PM. Rick Davis and Rosemary Larson volunteered to make the presentations. THANK YOU RICK AND ROSEMARY! The following is a description of the plans for theirparticipation in the HOBY congress.

"The students, called ambassadors, are randomly placed in 4 groups representing rich to very poor and victims. You will be placed in one of the poor groups. The Red Cross will be with the group of victims of war, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes ñ those that need Red Cross help. Role playing is encouraged because the students should be aware of the other groups and the diversity of meals, that they cannot pass food across groups (i.e. travel, customs, spoilage) and we need to help others ñ thatís why we have discussion afterwards. Afterwards we divide into 6 groups, a facilitator will discuss the meal (please participate) and then you will describe your organization and all its aspects: purpose, training, internships and the good that you bring to communities, how 16 year olds can help and what they can do in the future. You can bring information to distribute. This session will last 30 minutes. Then I will switch you to another session for the last 20 minutes. There will be about 70 students in each session. Part of the student "ambassadors" leadership training is actively taking on responsibilities in the program. You may be interviewed and introduced by a student. After your speech another ambassador will thank you with a token of our appreciation. The session will end about 2:30 PM. ...
