Heifer Study Tours are specialized expeditions through spectacular geography and unique ecosystems to visit remote villages and isolated peoples. But a Heifer Study Tour goes beyond sightseeing. It is a journey into the daily lives of extraordinary people. As you visit with the farmers and families who are working with Heifer to improve their lives, you will learn more than you could have imagined. |
Summaries of past, present and future study tours by Heifer-Chicago volunteers are being included in the following.

Wendy Davis visited the Senegal office,
which was only 3 years old, and all the projects were just getting under way. A highlight near the end of the trip was attending a Passing On The Gift
ceremony in which Tour participants are considered part of the process because of
their interest in Heifer and all it stands for. The photo is of Wendy passing on grass cutters in Ghana. (Grasscutters are
rodents much like rabbits raised for their meat.) |

Lynne Atherton went on a Study Tour to Honduras in 1987. She writes: "When I first went in 1987 (with the 20 goats and 5 heifers on the cargo plane), I stayed with Tim and Gloria Wheeler [Honduras Heifer staff] over Easter when their twins were just babies. Gloria gave me a Salvadoran Christus Rex that I've had in my office ever since. A parrot watched, nearby, early one morning as I was writing in my journal... " |
